New Zeeland racing star may cause at Royal Ascot this summer

Dual Classic winner Jimmie Choux, New Zealand racing's new star, Royal Ascot this summer may cause at the New Zeeland.

Three years on the Tasman Sea 1m2f Rosehill Guineas in Sydney in his third Group 1 success across the country before last week both New Zealand won the 2,000 Guineas and Derby.

The AJC Australian Derby on Saturday week, the country's Randwick Classic in Iran, which after meeting the royal connection, where he has been 1m Group 1 Queen Anne entered to find refuge in a crack Are seen to be a major contender.

Trainer John Bary told New Zealand Thoroughbred Marketing, "He just keeps stepping up".

"I have to admit that I was starting to wonder if we had got it wrong thinking he had actually improved since getting over here but that's what scares me about him - what he did on Saturday shows that we were right. The way he won just shows what a great horse he is.

"We've just got to keep him up for the AJC Derby, then we'll just have to wait and see."

Bary added: "Plans A, B and C are in place, like he's entered for Royal Ascot in June and there's the Queensland winter carnival as well. To go to Royal Ascot would have to depend on a stud or such-like coming on board."

Thorn Park's son won his last five start, group them all in the company.

Bary said, "Who knows what he's worth - NZ$5 million?. Apart from not having raced against the older horses, he hardly needs to do any more this season.

"Maybe that will have to wait until the Cox Plate in the spring, but time will tell. We'll just get through Saturday week first."
